Bloomfield Week Eight
Hello, friends!! HEY, guess what?? I love you all!!!
This week flew by! Probably the highlight was Tuesday morning. We had a lesson with our new investigator, ShiBaah. Our lesson plan went completely out the window because the Lord had something better in mind. This lesson was honestly one of the first times when I just felt the Spirit working through me 100%. But it was weird because I also felt more like myself while teaching than I have so far on my mission. I think that as missionaries we get so caught up with the way Preach My Gospel words things or the way we see other missionaries explain things in the demos we do together, but in this lesson I felt like the Spirit was prompting me to go back to the way that I talk. For the first time I felt like I was teaching like Sister Bohman, not like anyone else. And it turns out that's what ShiBaah needed! She needed Sister Bohman's semi-scattered, but very passionate explanation of the importance of reading the scriptures, not some scripted speech. It was so good!! It was one of those moments that reminded me that I am supposed to be a missionary. Another thing we missionaries tend to do a lot, which we definitely shouldn't, is compare. It can be very easy to think, "Why am I here? There are so many other missionaries that can do so much better than me at [fill in the blank]." It's one of those stinky things that the adversary likes to sneak in our heads. But it's nice to have those moments that remind us that that thought is absolutely ridiculous. I know that I was called to serve in Bloomfield at this moment in time because this is where the Lord wants me. And every single missionary in the world is where they are meant to be, where they are going to be able to grow and serve the most. The Lord is in control and He is so good!!
It's real hard to be a missionary, but it's so good. I really, really appreciate the love and prayers. I love you all so very very much. Have a wonderful week and always remember that you are where you're meant to be! Someone needs you right now!! (What's that Doctor Seuss quote about how "there's no one alive that is you-er than you!"? If I had access to the google I'd look that up, buuut hopefully you know what I'm talking about cause that's a good one) I love you!
Love,
Sister Bohman
Some scripture verses I've loved this week...
And a lovely quote...
"The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of the people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature... Yes, Christ changes men, and changed men can change the world."
