Farmington Week Fourteen
Hello, friends!! What an incredible week.
Highlights:
- had an amazing lesson with Alys. She was taught by missionaries a lot in the past and we recently started teaching her again. Last time we met we encouraged her to start reading the Book of Mormon again and... She did it! She read 8 chapters! She told us her favorite part was in chapter 5 when Sariah is worried about her sons and Lehi comforted her. She really liked it because she felt like she could relate so much to Sariah and it made it feel more real to her. She's incredible! We invited her this week to pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true and she said she would so I'm super excited!
- more Book of Mormon things: Divonna has been on a role with her Book of Mormon reading!!!! Just a few weeks ago we were in the same spot (Jacob 6) and now she's in Alma and I'm still in Mosiah 9. She amazes me everyday with her enthusiasm for the gospel and the good example she sets for her family, even when they aren't as quick to follow. I LOVE her!!
- had dinner at Bishop's house and his wife gave us homegrown apples and raspberries!! They are DELICIOUS.
- taught several returning members about general conference, getting them ready and excited for that and ohmygoodness I am so so SO pumped to hear from our prophets and apostles.
- met a new friend named Robert. He teaches choir and guitar and when we went to his house for a lesson he gave us fruit punch and cheesecake! That's a first! He also had us sign his Bible and write our favorite Bible scripture (mine is 1 John 4:7-8) next to our names. Then we had a really great discussion! His ex-wife was a member of the church so he knows a lot about it. He had a question on the great apostasy and if that really is in the nature of God so we got to talked about that. It was really interesting to see his perspective on it! We testified that we know God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and that the apostasy was a part of His pattern, but so was the restoration of His prophets and priesthood. I don't know if we completely resolved his concern that night or not, but my testimony was strengthened!
- church was GREAT! We've been developing great relationships with the members here and really gaining their trust. I have a strong testimony that this work moves forward the most powerfully when full-time missionaries and members come together. We are seeing that happening in our ward! We had a great discussion in ward council and our elders quorum president said, "How did we end up with the greatest missionaries in the mission?". And yes I might have cried a little bit. Just a few tears. That one's going in the journal! It's the little things!
It really has been a great week! I know without a shadow of a doubt that Sister Darlington and I are supposed to be here together this transfer. That is such a good feeling!! I love being a missionary!
From Farmington with love,
Sister Bohman
Something nice to read:
"The Voice of the Lord" by Elder Anderson from October 2017. It'll be great prep for conference this weekend!
