Farmington Week Fifteen

Blake's Lotaburger (kind of NM's Whataburger) breakfast burrito with green chile. Very yummy.

Hello, friends!! This week has not been normal at all!

Monday. Sister Jones and Sister Hoge stayed the night with us for Mission Leadership Council on Tuesday and it was WAY fun because Sister Jones is serving in Durango right now so she updated me on my people up there. Daniel was baptized and it was beautiful and now he's just soaring. Edwinna and her family are doing really well too and they are getting close to accepting the gospel! And the Baxstroms (a couple that we were working on reactivating) are fully back and super active!! Such great news!!

Tuesday. We had MLC! Which I went to for the first time! It was really great. We just counseled about what our mission needs to help us be better disciples of Jesus Christ that can help bring more people to Him. It was just really special to feel the Spirit working in all of us to make plans on how we can help the other missionaries as well as the people we are called to serve. We were definitely receiving revelation together and that is an incredible feeling!

Wednesday. We had zone conference! It was so great!! It's always amazing to be with all the missionaries in the area. One part that was really emotional was the departing testimonies, where all the missionaries that are headed back home at the end of the transfer just bear their testimony of what they've learned on their mission. Sister Kocherhans (who I lived with for 3 transfers at the very beginning of the mission) gave her departing testimony and just bore the most beautiful witness of Jesus Christ being our Savior. It was a beautiful day! And we got flu shots and I was only nervous a little bit!

Thursday. Had a short district meeting and talked about what we learned at zone conference. It was neat to see what a stood out to everyone else! We also had a lesson with the Begays and Ja'Shawn (the incredible yoyoing 10 year old) came up with a great analogy about yoyos and the gospel! He said each part of the yoyo represented something really important to our spirituality (for example: the string was prayer, the axle was scripture reading, etc.) And said that you need all the parts or the yoyo doesn't work, just like you need all those spiritual things or we won't be able to stay close to God. He's a smart kid!

Friday. We had 2 great lessons today! One was with Divonna and Rashaan and the other with Robert. With Divonna and Rashaan we mostly talked about general conference and prepped them for that (they watched it and loved it by the way!!). And with Robert we had a great conversation about a lot of things! Some takeaways I had were:
• It's really important to find a balance between basing our decisions and beliefs off of just reasoning and basing them off of feelings and faith. God does want us to think with our heads, but He also wants us to not let our heads get in the way of just following the Spirit!
• I still have a lot to learn about the nature of God and my divine potential, but I sure do know that He is my literal Father in Heaven and He loves me!
• Everything in a church and our LIFE should point to Jesus Christ. Truth!

Saturday & Sunday. General conference!! WOW I LOVED IT. If you didn't get a chance to watch it... go do it! It was so amazing to hear from God's modern-day prophets and apostles. I am SO grateful to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is the church of Jesus Christ. I know He leads the prophet and apostles through revelation and the messages we received this weekend were from Him, delivered by His chosen representatives. What a blessing it is to have that kind of guidance in the crazy world we live in!!

God is our Father. Jesus is the Christ. They love is more than we can comprehend. These truths have been made manifest to me by the Holy Spirit and they are a part of me. God is good.

From Farmington with love,
Sister Alyssa
