Durango/Pagosa/Farmington Week Twenty One

Hello, friends!! I feel like I have spent no time in Durango this week! Hence the email title.

Monday we went to Farmington for a doctor's appointment for Sister Higgins and while we were there we took advantage of the shopping and you can bet I got new socks from Target and 50% off washi tape at Hobby Lobby. And waffle fries at Chick fil a. Of course. That night (back in Durango) we talked to this homeless man that has spent the past 40 years traveling around the country. He had a cute dog!

Tuesday we had some GREAT lessons and then Wednesday morning I went off to Pagosa Springs to spend the day with the lovely Sister Lazari. She goes home in 2 weeks which is super sad because it means we'll never be companions. :( But we had a great day in Pagosa!!

Thursday I think we had 5 lessons and we were RUNNING around from place to place! The best part of Thursday was we went over the baptism interview questions with Louie and he is getting SO READY to be baptized. And it's amazing because I can see it in his eyes how much brighter the light of Christ has grown in him since when I met him back in February (I think?). He is doing GREAT.

Friday night and Saturday I spent in Farmington with Sister Smith (a different Sister Smith than I was with last week). Sister Smith is absolutely darling. We were in the MTC together and it was really fun to see how far we have both come. It's crazy that that was 9 months ago!! And Sister Smith served in Durango when we first got in the field so I got to update her on some of the people she worked with :). Honestly though, Sister Smith has a real super power: she has this incredible way of helping people feel God's love and WOW did I feel that during the 26 hours we were together. I love her!! And guess what! She went to BYU and our dorm buildings were RIGHT next to each other. Crazy.

Sunday we had a great dinner with a family in our ward and some of their nonmembers friends. It was so fun! Their friend had all these amazing stories about her family history and it was so fun to listen to her talk! At the end of the night, we shared the Easter video from 2017, Prince of Peace and she LOVED it. We had a really great discussion afterwards with the whole family and it was miraculous!

This week I've been thinking a lot about a lot of things. Being a missionary is super tough and sometimes it feels like it's just bringing out the absolute worst in me! There are just all these ways I feel like I need to improve and be better and it can get really stinking frustrating! I have a vision of the woman I want to become and it feels like that she is so far out of reach. It's easy to get down and start thinking, "I will NEVER get there". But what we have to remember is that our Heavenly Father sees in us LIMITLESS potential. He knows exactly who we can become and He knows how to get us there. He has a perfect vision of the woman I NEED to become and He's giving me all the right hurdles to get there. These are all truths that I know. I KNOW I can get there, but now's the part where I have to learn to be happy with the fact that I'm not there yet. I have to find happiness in the seeking, not just the obtaining. That's when we can finally feel at peace with our faults and our weaknesses. Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father can make so much of us, but it's a process. And we can learn to be happy with the process instead of getting so caught up in how far we have left to go!! So that's what I've been thinking about.

It is GREAT to be a missionary. I'm working on fully giving myself to Christ and holding nothing back. A sculptor can't sculpt clay that he doesn't have. So I will give Christ all of me so that He can sculpt me into the woman He needs me to be. And there is no better feeling in the WORLD than knowing you are where He needs you to be and doing what He needs you to be doing!!

Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
