Farmington Week Two

Hello friends!! Today's email is going to be super short because I have no time! We DEEP cleaned our apartment (which hasn't been cleaned well in probably over a year) and it took a super long time! But it looks SO good and feels even better!! You know that ancient proverb that says, "cleanliness is next to godliness"? It's so true.

I hope everyone enjoyed their fourth of July!! We didn't have any set appointments that day so we spent the whole day knocking on doors and talking to people. It was super hard, but we got to talk to 28 new people! And there were a few that had some interest in learning more about Jesus Christ, which is exactly what we love to teach so that's perfect!

I've spent a lot of time reading from the Book of Mormon this week. I will never stop being amazed by the fact that EVERY time I pick up that book wanting to learn, I come away enlightened. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God; there is absolutely no other explanation for the way I feel when I study it!! I love the Bible more than I can put into words, but I absolutely cannot imagine what my life would be like if I didn't have both the Bible AND the Book of Mormon. The knowledge I have gained of my Savior Jesus Christ in these books of scripture is more valuable to me than any earthly possession. I was thinking today about Alma and his people in Mosiah chapter 18, who learned of Jesus Christ and covenanted to follow Him by being baptized. Verse 30 says, "And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall sing to his praise forever." The prophet-historian that compiled the Book of Mormon around 400 or 500 A.D. was named Mormon after this place where all these people came to a knowledge of Jesus Christ (3 Nephin 5:12), so the Book of Mormon is named after him. BUT before Mormon was this prophet's name, it was this beautiful place. So I like to think of the Book of Mormon being named after the place because, just like Alma and his people learned about and came to love Jesus Christ at the waters of Mormon, we can learn about and come to love and rely on Jesus Christ by spending time in the Book of Mormon. I LOVE that.

I love you!!! Have a super happy week!!

Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman

A Nice thing to read:
- The October 2011 Ensign (a church magazine that you can find on lds.org) all about the Book of Mormon!
