Farmington Week Three

Hello friends!! Where to even begin!?

MONDAY: A random stranger bought us lunch! That was super fun!! And the fries were fantastic! Also met a few great people that night, one of which was a young man who said missionaries had given him a Book of Mormon and he'd read it! It was really neat because he told us that when he reads it, he feels a lot of comfort. Me too!!

TUESDAY: Sister Darlington was gone for the first half of the day for a mission leadership conference so I got to work for a few hours with one of our newest missionaries, Sister Butler! She is so cute and so sweet and it seems like she's been doing this for months but it's only been 3 weeks. She's amazing! We got to go to a nursing home and sing hymns to the little old people there and it was so much fun because they were SO happy. At first it was kind of nerve-wracking because singing in public, but once we got into it it was just wonderful!

WEDNESDAY: Zone Conference day. A.K.A. One of the greatest days of every transfer. It was our first ZC with President and Sister Ackerman and it was INCREDIBLE. I learned so much!! We talked a lot about how important it is to always be worthy of the Holy Spirit being with us because inspiration leads this work. This is God's work and He will guide us to know how to do it IF we ask Him and listen to His Spirit. It reminded me of President Nelson's talk from the last general conference where he talked about how there is so much that God wants to reveal to us if we'll just listen. He loves us! And He wants to talk to us!!
On a less spiritual note, another great thing about zone conference was that WE WON THE CLEAN TRUCK AWARD!!!! Okay fine we tied. But we tied with THE Sister Corpus and Sister Walker so it was a total dream. Best part? Our Nissan is an old rez-runner and everyone told us we didn't have a chance up against all the nice new Tacomas, but Gidgidonni (that's his name) proved them all wrong. Such a proud mom moment.

THURSDAY: I spent the day in... BLOOMFIELD!! I got to go on another exchange there, this time with my old MTC comp, Sister Allred! It was so much fun to catch up with her since we really haven't spent time together since we were companions. We have both come such a long way and it was great to reflect on all we've learned together. The highlight of the day though was probably when we went and visited a less active lady I taught back when I served there, Sister Tso. I LOVE her. It was so cute when she saw me she said, "You were always my good missionary. Oh I missed you." And little old Navajo ladies have the cutest accent EVER and it was just the sweetest thing. Such a good day!!

FRIDAY: Had interviews with President and Sister Ackerman. Found out Sister Ackerman is my tenth cousin so that was fun! Haha the FamilySearch app has a really fun little feature where you can find relatives around you and that's what it told us! The closest relative I've found on the mission is one elder in Durango was my 5th cousin. It's not really that insanely close, but it's just fun to make those little connections! We also met a great lady with really cute kids and she said we could come back!

SATURDAY: Went to the rez! Our area covers a small part of Navajo reservation with a few little neighborhoods. There are a lot of members of our ward that live out there who are less active so on Saturday we tried to contact a few of them. We had lessons with 3 super sweet old Navajo ladies and it was wonderful. Fun fact we talked to like 15 people that day and EVERY SINGLE ONE was  Navajo. I have come to love the Navajo people so much. They are so kind and so in-tune with the Spirit, even when they don't realize it. Their culture helps them be so much more in touch with their spiritual side than so many other people in today's world and it's so amazing! And, like I said earlier, I love the little old ladies' accents.

SUNDAY: We had a great little ward "linger longer" after church that we put together to help the ward members get to know each other a bit better. Basically we just had a bunch of cookies and after church was over everyone went outside for a cookie and chatting. It went super well!! And I met a lot more great people. :) God is definitely blessing me in this area to be able to remember people's names--hopefully that'll be a skill thay carries with me after the mission too!

It's been a great week! Every single day I've seen little miracles and I know God is watching out for us. Life is good because He is good!!

Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
