Durango Week One
Hello, friends!!! Are you ready to hear about Durango??
I love it here so much! It’s definitely not Bloomfield because first of all it’s HUGE and has stores and tons of stop lights, but I think I’ll be able to figure out my way around. It is beautiful here!! And we got some snow on Saturday night/Sunday morning that made it even more beautiful! Now for the important stuff:
My companion, Sister Whipple, is INCREDIBLE. She has a beautiful testimony and an inspiring passion for this work. One of the things I admire about her is how in-tune she is with the Spirit. She always saying things like, “I feel like we should try this house” or “God definitely wanted us to be here right now” and she’s always right! She’s good at listening to those little promptings. And this area is about to explode with miracles!! The sisters before us have gotten such a great pool of investigators and different people that they’ve developed really great relationships with and they are all so full of potential to really start progressing. I just know that this is where I’m meant to be right now for some reason! And I feel so lucky to be working with Sister Whipple. I learn more and more from her each day!! I’m so, SO excited!
Here’s your miracle for the week…
On Wednesday, we turned down the wrong street, but ended up being in the exact right place. So we took a wrong turn and realized we were not in the place we had planned on going, but Sister Whipple said there was an investigator on that street that we could try to see, so we did. It turns out he’s in jail right now, but his friend was there trying to fix his truck. His name was Keith and we started talking to him. At first he was kind of closed off and was talking about how the concept of God doesn’t make sense to him and about how rough his life has been so far. We bore testimony that God is his Father and also of Jesus Christ’s healing power. He started opening up and we ended up getting to share Prince of Peace with him and gave him a Book of Mormon. After the video, he said he had goosebumps and was already feeling better. He told us that the past few days a lot of things about religion have been popping up and then all of a sudden we were there talking to him about it all (and we told him we accidently turned the wrong road, but were grateful because we ended up running into him) and he said, “those kind of things can’t be ignored.” We told him that we know God is leading him to where he needs to be. I could tell that the things we told him really did make a difference and I’m excited to see where this leads. I know God is preparing him for something big!
I absolutely love it here! Thanks so much for all of your love and your prayers. And thank you for all you each do wherever you are in the service of the Lord. I know God is always placing us in the perfect place so that we can meet who we’re meant to and lift who we’re meant to. He is so mindful of us and He is so good!
Lots and lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
Some nice things to read…
-A bit from chapter 17 of Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage: “Prayer is made up of heart throbs and the righteous yearnings of the soul, of supplication based on the realization of need, of contrition and pure desire.” (everyone should read this book!!)
