Bloomfield Week Sixteen
Hello, friends!! Happy new year!! Can you even believe it's 2018?? Wow.
This week was great! Highlights:
-Making tamales with our investigator, Lupe. Let me tell you, spreading the maz is not as easy as it looks in the Light the World video, but it was still lots of fun! We just spent a couple hours talking and laughing and then we were able to teach Lupe the Restoration! It was a wonderful lesson made even sweeter with the joy that comes from service :)
-HUGE miracle of the week... We had a referral named James Campbell at the beginning of last transfer that we talked to once and he invited us back, but he works in the oil field so he has a crazy work schedule. We'd tried him tons of times since then, but he was never home. Then on Thursday we were having a really slow day and all our appointments cancelled because everyone in Bloomfield is sick and we burned through all our backup plans and I felt just about ready to give up. We decided to try James Campbell, even though we were pretty sure he wouldn't be home and GUESS WHAT?? He WAS home! And not only that, but he had his friend over, who just so happened to be a woman so we got to actually go inside his house instead of standing on his porch in the freezing cold! (we have a rule where we never put ourselves in a situation where we're alone with a man, so his nieghbor being there right then was a HUGE miracle). And to top it all off, we got to show James and his friend, Reda, the Prince of Peace video from last Easter and they both really liked it and we had a really wonderful discussion on Jesus Christ. AND another miracle with that is that earlier that day I decided to put the Prince of Peace DVD in my bag even though we hadn't used it in a month probably and while we were sitting talking to James and Reda, Sister Withers goes, "we actually have this video about Jesus Christ and how He can help us through all the storms and difficulties of life, if you'd be interested." And looks at me and goes, "Do you have Prince of Peace?" and I DID! But I wouldn't have if the Spirit hadn't prompted me to put it in my bag 8 hours earlier. How NEAT is that? I had that prompting earlier in the day and then Sister Withers had the prompting during our visit with James to show him that video. The Lord works in incredible ways! Probably just reading this story, it doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but to us, those were all huge miracles. God is good!
-And I got to spend Saturday in the Farmington 6th ward with the wonderful Sister Sheppard. Exchanges are always kind of scary because you go to spend 24 hours with another sister who you've probably never worked with or even spent almost any time with, but me and Sister Sheppard hit it off. She's just amazing! I might be crossing my fingers that we get to be comps later on in the mission. It was such a great day, but probably the best part was when we were in a lesson with their investigator, Kimberly, and we invited her to read and pray about the Book of Mormon to know it it's true and she said, "Of course I will! Truth is something worth seeking." And I just. WOW. I wish everyone we talked to had that same perspective! I'm so excited to hear how Kimberly progresses because I can tell she has a really strong spirit. Missionary work is the best!
So those were the highlights! Like I said, this week was amazing. I can't believe it's already 2018. And I'm going to be a missionary this entire year!! How neat is that?? 2018 is the year of Sister Bohman. I'm so so excited and can't wait to get work done and share this gospel with as many people I can! To quote a little plaque my wonderful mother sent me for Christmas, "God is good, y'all!"
Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
