Week One of OFFICIALLY not being a greenie!!! (Bloomfield Week 13)

Hello, friends!! First off, this week was LONG, but it was good!

THE highlight of the week was our lesson with a new investigator, Jessica, who found us last week. She came to church last Sunday with her friend in the ward, Karly, and at the beginning of the lesson she was just telling us about how amazing church was. She said she felt so happy and welcomed and peaceful all at the same time and that she'd never felt all that at any other church she'd been to. And we'd given her a Book of Mormon when we saw her last week and she already read the Introduction and the Testimonies at the beginning. She told us that the Testimony of Joseph Smith was her favorite--she's amazing! We taught her about the restoration of Jesus Christ's gospel and she was just beaming the whole time. It was the kind of lesson that I've heard about from other missionaries and my teachers at the MTC, but that I never dreamed I'd actually be a part of. I am so so excited for Jessica. She said she wants to be baptized on January 13th! She radiates light and is such a great example of following Jesus Christ with 100% commitment. I just love her!!

The 2nd best part of the week was getting to share the #LighttheWorld initiative and what's called Joy to the World here in Bloomfield. The stake here does Joy to the World every other year and it's basically a big display of hundreds of nativities and pieces of art of Jesus Christ and His birth. They spent all day on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning decorating the entire church and big classrooms with the nativities and art that people all over the community bring to display. Then every night from Wednesday through Friday and all day Saturday it's open to anyone to walk through at their own pace, like an open house. We spent all Thursday night and Saturday morning showing people the Light the World video in one of the classrooms and it was wonderful. Before Joy to the World started on Wednesday night, the stake president dedicated it to the Lord and the whole church was just heavy with the Spirit. It was so beautiful and peaceful and I wish all of you could have seen it. Even the hallways were decorated with lights and artwork. It really was spectacular. It was also really neat because there were more people there on Thursday night than any other night in any other year they've done Joy to the World. I think there were a lot of people there looking to find peace after the shooting in Aztec that morning. It was so special to see people turning to Jesus Christ at such a heart-breaking time. I know that He is the greatest Healer and that we can all find peace and solace in Him. Because of Him, death has no victory. He is the Light and the Life of the world. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ with my whole heart.

I hope you're all doing well back at home. I pray for you and I am really thankful for your prayers for me. I love you all!!

Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman

And of course, some wonderful things to read...
