Farmington Week Nineteen
Hello, friends!! My last week in Farmington! Want to know where I'm headed next? Stay tuned! This is gonna be a quick email because I've got to pack! Ah!
Highlights:
- had a great lesson with the Johnsons! They were doing really well for a while and then all this crazy stuff happened and they didn't come to church for a month... but we talked about the importance of having the Spirit with us always and how we have to take the sacrament to qualify for that. They both recognized that they need to try harder! God was working on them. And guess what! They came to church on Sunday! That may seem like a little victory, but these things are honestly HUGE.
- on halloween we drove to the south edge of our area to see if there was anything out there and... nothing. Just farms! It was a pretty drive though!
- met with the Begays again and their cousin who doesn't go to church was there! So that was fun! We had an object lesson about how satan tries to get us to do little things that aren't good, and he makes it seem like it isn't a big deal, but then all those little things add up. Like how one thread around your wrist is easy to break (so it doesn't seem like a big deal), but a bunch of thread around your wrist is really hard to break (like how skipping one day of scripture reading may not ruin you, but if you do it over and over pretty soon you'll be in a rough place). Not sure if that makes sense how I explained it, but at the end we talked about how we don't want to get tied up like that by the adversary, but if we do Christ is strong enough to break anything that may bind us. And I know that's true! He has overcome absolutely everything and He can help us overcome our challenges too!
- Divonna taught us to make tortillas! Hopefully I can remember how so I can replicate that at home. It's not as easy as it seems!
- we had a great meeting with our relief society presidency talking about some of our returning members. The common theme with everyone we talked about was just that they need a good friend in the ward to encourage them along. It just reminded me so much of how important ministering to our brothers and sisters is--whether we are assigned to or not. Everyone needs a good influence who will help them live the gospel! True friends help you come closer to God. We all need those!!
- we got our TRANSFER NEWS!!!!
...
I will be leaving New Mexico! Tomorrow I will take the nice long drive to WINSLOW, ARIZONA!!! ARIZONA!!!! This area has only been open to sisters for 2 transfers so this will be fun! My new companion will be Sister Baird. I've never met her, but I know she's been out for 2 transfers (she was trained in Winslow) and she's super sweet! She'll be my first companion who's "younger" than me by mission age! Everything's going to be really fresh and exciting! Sister Darlington will be training a new missionary here in 2nd Ward. She's going to be great :).
So that was last week! I'm so excited to tell you about what happens this week!! I'm excited to experience all that God wants to give me! He is SO good. It's going to be a great 6 weeks!
From Farmington (for the last time... at least for a while) with love,
Sister Bohman
