Durango Week Eighteen
This week was a total blur but here are the highlights:
• Got to help Louie build his fence
• It's really hard for Daniel to retain information so after we taught him the Restoration again, we asked him to write down what he learned and he wrote A WHOLE PAGE and IT WAS SO GOOD!!
• Spent a day in Pagosa Springs with Sister Smith (my companion from the MTC!!) AND we had beef stroganoff for dinner
• Our investigator, Blake, came to Sunday School and hit it off with the teacher and they're basically best friends now
• One of the sisters in the ward gave us pretty peonies that now sit on our desk
• We helped our food bank friend, Rick (a less active member in the Mancus ward) get back to church and now he's going every week and NOW his sons coming with him too!!!
So many miracles going on in Durango right now. The future is so so bright!!
I have been thinking a lot about the hymn "Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd", especially with the recent focus on ministering. I especially like the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th verses:
Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are the lambs of his fold;
Some from the pastures are straying,
Hungry and helpless and cold.
See, the Good Shepherd is seeking,
Seeking the lambs that are lost,
Bringing them in with rejoicing,
Saved at such infinite cost.
Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are the “ninety and nine”;
Dear are the sheep that have wandered
Out in the desert to pine.
Hark! he is earnestly calling,
Tenderly pleading today:
“Will you not seek for my lost ones,
Off from my shelter astray?”
Green are the pastures inviting;
Sweet are the waters and still.
Lord, we will answer thee gladly,
“Yes, blessed Master, we will!
Make us thy true under-shepherds;
Give us a love that is deep.
Send us out into the desert,
Seeking thy wandering sheep.”
As disciples of Jesus Christ, He is asking us to help Him find His lost sheep. He cares for each one of them and to be His "under-shepherds", we must do the same. Love can change the world. In fact, it already has. Christ came to share His is infinite love and we can be His hands to help those who have wandered to feel that love again. What blessing it is to be in His service!
Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
