Durango Week Six! Six Months In!

Hello, friends!!

This week FLEW! Here's some quick highlights from each day :)

Monday: We had a nice exciting little blizzard today so that was super fun! We walked up to this one man's house and I'm pretty sure he thought we were crazy for being outside. Crazy or dedicated? Let's go with the second one!

Tuesday: We worked at the food bank again and sorted a HUGE box of donated food that the boy scouts gathered up.No kidding, it was probably 6x6x4 feet and it was PACKED with food. It took almost 2 hours and we felt SO accomplished once we finished! Hooray accomplishments!

Wednesday: We had a really great lesson with a less active sister, Sister Baxstrom. And her daughter was there (who hasn't really been fond of the church in a LONG time) and she stayed and listened the whole time! Miracles!!

Thursday: We had a neat lesson with a man named Blake. He is very logical and it's difficult for him to go along with "just have faith" and those kinds of ideas. We were telling him about the Book of Mormon and how we can come to know that it is true for ourselves by praying with faith, real intent, and a sincere heart and the Holy Ghost will let us know it is from God. It was really special because we couldn't answer all of his deep, analytical questions, but we could testify to him of what we DID know. And that is that I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God because I have read it and I have grown closer to Him and my Savior by reading it and I cannot deny that it is a gift from Him and that the stories in it's pages really did happen thousands of years ago. I may not know everything, but I do know that and NOTHING could convince me otherwise.

Friday: Friday was hard. A man yelled at us on his porch because he doesn't understand who we are and what our purpose is, and he probably (incorrectly) thought that were going to try to take away his faith. But a highlight to that was that I know I can do hard things and I know that even when people are mean and even when the work is sad, the Lord stands with us shoulder to shoulder as we are engaged in His work. And I'm sure one day, whether now or in the eternities, this man will realize that we were only trying to help him by sharing a message that has blessed our lives! On Friday we also saw day-old baby goats and they are the cutest ever so that was pretty great.

Saturday: We found two INCREDIBLE investigators who are super curious and love Jesus and we're just super excited about them. Their names are Morgan and John and they have about 150000 pets, including four dogs, three cats, 3 leopard geckos, and a horn-nosed snake. They have an exciting home and I left covered in cat hair, which I consider to be the sign of a good day. (Don't worry, we always have a lint-roller in the truck. Thanks, Mom!!)

Sunday: Church was SO good. A sister came home from her mission in Russia so we got to hear her homecoming talk and it was so beautiful! She talked all about how her mission changed her love for her Savior and how it helped her feel His love for her. It was so great! And in Relief Society we had a great discussion on keeping the sabbath day holy and it's always just so great to hear comments from all the sisters in so many different points in their lives. I love church!! Everyone should go!!

It's been a great week!!! And probably THE biggest highlight was that we found out that Sister Whipple and I will be staying together in Durango for another 6 weeks!! We are both SO excited for this next transfer. Amazing things are about to happen and we can feel it!! :)

Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
