Week Five
Hello friends!! How are you?? I just want you to know that I think about and pray for you everyday (and everyday people we meet pray for you when they say, "please bless these dear sisters and their families and friends back home". Isn't that wonderful? Complete strangers are praying for you!!)
This week FLEW by. The days are long and the weeks are short! We met our goal of FOUR new official investigators this week!! Dustriana is 9 and she has actually already picked a day to be baptized--October 28th! Jason is an old Baptist scriptorian and he already believes almost everything we do.. He just doesn't know it yet! Salvador is the husband of a member in our ward and he is the sweetest. He also has 3 daughters and tons of grandchildren in the church and he's super supportive of them, he just hasn't felt the need to be baptized yet. And last but not least, Kalie is a young mom with 2 sweet little boys and we found her through a different referral kind of accidentally, but not actually accidentally because the Lord definitely wanted her found! She actually said yesterday that we knocked on her door with perfect timing. She's going through some hard times and the hope that comes from Jesus Christ and His gospel is exactly what she needs right now (and always)! She was actually sick this weekend and our wonderful Relief Society president made her some soup that we brought over last night, so that was really nice and made her super happy :) All our investigators are fantastic and I can't wait to get to serve them and get to know them even better!
Besides finding these 4 new investigators, we spent a lot of time this week trying to reach out to members of the ward to get referrals and we've also spent lots of time trying to help less active members and old investigators in the area. It's a lot of work, but it's so great! Being a missionary really is wonderful! And it's definitely a huge learning experience and new adventure everyday!
Probably the scariest part of the week was that I had to teach a training in our district meeting (where the 10 missionaries in the area meet once a week to talk about how we can improve and be better missionaries) in my second district meeting EVER! It was so much scarier than teaching investigators. But I got through it and it actually went pretty well! The Lord definitely helped me! One great thing about district meetings is that I get to play the piano for the opening and closing hymns, which I really appreciate because I miss playing piano all the time! And my district is super great, especially the other sisters we live with. Their names are Sister Corpus and Sister Kocherhans and they have the strongest testimonies and the funniest personalities. It's actually Sister K's birthday today so we have some fun activities and treats planned :)
Time is short so I've got to wrap up, but I just wanted to mention that the women's session of General Conference this last Saturday night was AMAZING and if you weren't able to watch it I would encourage you to find it on lds.org of youtube, especially the first and last talks. WOWZERS those were amazing. As for a scripture of the week, I've been loving Mosiah 24:13-15. The Lord won't usually take away our trials, but He WILL give us strength to bear them. He's done that for me and I know He'll do it for you. Jesus Christ loves you. Heavenly Father loves you. And I love you! Never forget that!!
Love,
Sister Bohman
P.S. Please send me some mail!! It's so fun to get letters, whether their on email or on paper :)
