Winslow Week Twelve
Hello, friends!! Have I ever told you that God is good?? Well, He is!! One reason for that is the fact that Sister Clement and I will be staying together this transfer. And I couldn't be happier. :)
OKAY. This week was great. We had zone conference in Tuba City and Sister Clement and I gave a training! She never ceases to amaze me. I was freaking out and so nervous (typical), but she was totally calm and collected. I guess we make a good team! Our training was on member missionary work and it went really well! One of the main points of our training was the power of simple testimony, and how we need to help the members of our wards and branches see what a difference they can make by just taking advantage of opportunities to bear simple, pure testimony, especially to friends not of our faith. Jodie's baptism was a product of member missionary work! And Alisha's will be too! Sometimes we underestimate the influence we can have, but like 2 Nephi 33:1 says, "when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men." When we bear testimony, we speak by the power of the Holy Ghost and He can then carry our words to people's hearts and they can feel it. President Ballard said,
"Brothers and sisters, join together with the missionaries in sharing your precious testimony every day, witnessing at every opportunity the glorious message of the Restoration. The fire of your testimony is all that you need in order to introduce the gospel to many more of our Father’s children. Trust in the Lord, and never underestimate the impact your testimony can have upon the lives of others as you bear it with the power of the Spirit."
That's powerful!!
Now an update on the people we're teaching:
The Torres are all working together to help Mykell, who is almost 10, be ready for baptism on March 5th, his birthday. And we're working with Brother Torres to help him be ready to baptize him! Sister Torres has been working on quitting smoking and the rest of the family is encouraging her so much! We had a powerful lesson with them on Thursday and we testified that Christ would help her overcome her addiction and that He and Heavenly Father are SO proud of their family and all the steps they're taking to get to the temple. And they all came to church on Sunday!
The Edgmons have been really hard to get in for a lesson with because of some family things that have been going on, but we finally got to sit down with them again this week! Alan told us he wants to be baptized on March 16th, which is their anniversary!! So we're working with the two of them towards that. The best part is that when he's baptized on that day, exactly a year later they can go to the temple to be sealed together for all of eternity, right around the time of their anniversary too!!
The Paynes are just amazing. Alisha is getting so SO excited about her baptism on February 23rd. (Fun fact! Alisha and Jordan's anniversary is on February 28th so they can go to the temple really close to their anniversary too!! That's so special!!) She's doing great. Jordan got called in to work in Sunday and she still came to church by herself with their girls! That's AMAZING. I love her.
Prayers for all of them would be much appreciated!! Prayer works!!
God is good. I'm so ready for this transfer. :)
Love,
Sister Bohman
