Farmington Week Twelve

Hello, friends!!

We had one more exchange this week. I stayed in the area with Sister Smith and it was wonderful. I LOVE that sister. It was very fun, but I was also very relieved to be done with exchanges! That was on Tuesday and then the rest of the week (and next week) Sister Darlington and I just got to stay together in our area. Thank goodness! I have learned a lot from all the exchanges I've gotten to go on this transfer though. I feel so blessed to get to serve alongside so many incredible sisters!!

Okay a big highlight of the week (as always) was meeting with Jane. Man that lady makes me think!! She has so many good questions and it really makes me dig deep and figure out why I believe what I believe. We've been mainly talking about the Plan of Salvation and I can say confidently that my testimony of the Plan has been strengthened so much as I've explained it to her and testified of it and pondered her questions. I know without a shadow of a doubt that it is REAL. So I've been thinking a lot about the nature of questions. Questions are SO important. They are a sign that you are using that big wonderful brain that God has blessed you with! But questions, when taken too far or viewed the wrong way, can challenge one's faith. It's interesting that questions can make or break a testimony. When something comes up that questions what we believe, I think it's so important to follow the advice of Elder Holland: “In moments of fear or doubt or troubling times, hold the ground you have already won. … Hold fast to what you already know and stand strong until additional knowledge comes.” The most important thing is to hold on to what you already know. Truth remains true, even if someone questions it. It is significant to me how often the Bible and the Book of Mormon AND Doctrine & Covenants invite us to ask, seek, knock, search, etc. God knows we will have questions, and He asks us to bring them to Him in faith, rather than to the world in doubt.

"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." (Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4-5)

I know this promise from the Book of Mormon is real. And it doesn't just apply to the Book of Mormon, it applies to any question we have. If we ask God with a sincere heart, real intent, and faith in Christ, He will teach us truth. So we don't have to wonder who is right, we can go to the source of all truth Himself, our Father in Heaven. And that is such an incredible gift!

I'm excited to see what this week has in store for us! This is the last week of the transfer so we will find out on Saturday night if we stay or leave. Stay tuned!!

From Farmington with love,
Sister Bohman
