Farmington Week Seven
Hello, friends!! We got transfer news on Saturday night and... Sister Darlington and I are both staying! It was a VERY exciting night though because we found out that a lot of the other sisters that we know and love will be opening up some new areas in Arizona! Including Sister Higgins! I'm excited to hear how that goes!!
This week has felt really long, the last one of the transfer always does! I haven't felt super great this week, so we took it kind of slow. Taking it slow as a missionary is kind of the worst because I'm so used to just going and going and going and I kind of feel like a slacker when I don't do that! But I know and God knows that sometimes you just have to take some time to get better. So I don't have a ton to report on this week, but church was really good on Sunday and I wanted to talk about that.
Bishop Bentley's son just got home from his mission in the Philippines on Wednesday so he spoke in church yesterday. He talked about different Christ-like attributes that he saw in the people he served there and it was a really special talk. The Philippines is a 3rd world country and the stories he told about the humility and faith of the people there were just incredible. One thing that really stood out to me was that the people there really didn't have anything of material value, but once they had Jesus Christ, they felt like they had everything. And they were right! You can have a fortune in the bank, but if you don't have Christ, what do you really have? Nothing! That's something I've known for as long as I can remember, but over the past 11 months, that truth has sunk deep into my heart. We should be willing to give anything up to have Jesus Christ in our life. But thankfully, He doesn't ask us to give much. All He asks for is our hearts. He asks us to love Him enough to follow Him, and He knows that what we will gain infinitely more than we could ever lose by doing that. He is the Savior of the world. He is my Savior. I love Him and I'm trying to give Him my heart a little more each day.
This week, I'd invite each of you to look at what might be holding you back from fully giving your heart to Christ and then decide if it's worth it. I promise that if you go to your Heavenly Father in humble, heartfelt prayer, He can help you overcome or give up anything your holding on to, you just have to be willing to follow the counsel He gives you. He will never lead us down the wrong path, and neither will Jesus Christ.
From Farmington with love,
Sister Bohman
