Durango Week Seven
Hello, friends!!! I can't even remember what happened this week. It went so fast!! And we had SO many lessons! Being a missionary is just fantastic!!
I think probably the BIGGEST miracles was with a less-active woman we are working with. Her name is Sister Price and she hasn't been to church in YEARS and she's been struggling with smoking for 30 years. In the past few week she got really serious about quitting smoking and we went and saw her on Thursday and it was INCREDIBLE! It was like she was a completely new person. She had all this energy and she was telling us about how it was all because of God and it was just super duper happy. I couldn't stop smiling that night because of how huge her transformation has been. I know God really did help her, and the blessings of striving to obey the Word of Wisdom were already coming her way.
I've been trying really hard to have hope this week--hope and faith in the Lord's promises. And I've definitely seen it help me with the work by giving me more optimism and energy. But it is hard to be hopeful all the time!! It's exhausting to stay positive 24/7! But I've learned that that's the best way to be, even though the worldly part of me wants to quit and sit sometimes. I like the hopeful me a lot better than the discouraged me! So I've decided that's who I'll be. It's not easy, but as I rely on the Savior and His promises, I know I'll be able to remain hopeful--and I know it's the same for all of you! Life is too short, and too good, to be negative. Don't get caught in that trap! Discouragement is satan's favorite tool, so don't you dare let him use it on you! It's just not worth it. So focus on Christ and remember that, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." (1 Corinthians 2:9)
I love you all!! And I know Someone who loves you even more! Yesterday at church a young girl gave this analogy: when you live far away from someone and you never call them or write them, your relationship weakens; it's like that with Heavenly Father too. He WANTS to hear from you and you've got to keep up that communication with Him if you want a relationship with Him. So that's my challenge for you this week: talk to your Father in Heaven every day, really talk to Him. I know it'll make Him happier and it'll make you happier. :)
Lots and lots of love,
Sister Bohman
